Briefing:
Mostly Harmless (formerly) / Demolished Planet

Earth
Category:
Places
Field Notes:
Earth was widely regarded by its inhabitants as a rather nice place to live, particularly if one enjoyed tea, mild weather complaints, and pretending not to notice impending doom. It was, however, demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass, a decision considered entirely routine by those responsible and deeply inconvenient by everyone else. Prior to its destruction, Earth hosted a species convinced it was more intelligent than dolphins, despite considerable evidence to the contrary. The planet’s cultural output included digital watches, which it inexplicably took pride in. Its greatest achievement was unknowingly serving as a computational device designed to determine the Question to the Ultimate Answer. This function was not completed due to the aforementioned demolition, which some have called “a setback.” Others have called it “Tuesday.”
