Ford Prefect

Ford Prefect is a field researcher for the Guide, a role which involves considerable drinking and only occasional research. Originally stranded on Earth due to a minor miscalculation regarding its importance (he believed it to be a major galactic hub), Ford spent fifteen years gathering data and mildly alarming locals. He possesses a relaxed attitude toward danger, bureaucracy, and most forms of reality. Ford is instrumental in Arthur Dent’s survival, largely because he happens to know where the nearest escape route, bar, or towel is at any given moment. His approach to research prioritises speed over accuracy, a philosophy that has significantly shaped the tone and reliability of the Guide itself.
